Starshell Nights

Starshell Nights

5th July 1942: Bombed. Again. Ship done for. Into boats and watch as the convoy slides past. Lights bright, think they must’ve dropped parachute flares – hope it’s that and not starshell and the Tirpitz is really here. That’s been the rumour anyway, convoys been ordered to scatter, just after the Navarino went down, and all the escort’s shot off to join the cruisers looking for the German fleet. I’m freezing, comeon someone, stop and help. Only 5 of us, Shorty looks like he’s done for. Help. Help. HELP! Anyone?

1.2M x 90m Acrylic on canvas. Unframed £475.
