Fog

Fog

30th June 1942 Hard storm that was, glad we made it. Spent half of it chipping ice with a rope around my waist as top hamper threatened to roll us over. One ship hit an iceflow and had to turn back. We’ve been in fog for the last 2 days, freezing as we steer round the flows, scary as dark shapes loom and slip away. Skippers been on the bridge almost constantly. It’s so quiet out here.

80cm x 60cm Acrylic on canvas. Unframed £300
